Garmin has updated its Connect IQ Store (CIQ), allowing developers to monetize their apps directly through Garmin Pay. This new feature streamlines the payment process for CIQ apps, making it easier for developers to earn revenue and for users to purchase premium content.

Connect IQ Cost

Becoming a Merchant

To list your application in the CIQ, you must first be onboarded as a merchant. This process includes paying an annual, non-refundable program fee of $100.

Revenue Split with Garmin

The revenue split is as follows:

  • Garmin receives 15% of the tax-exclusive price point.
  • Garmin adds the sales tax onto the price point.
  • Garmin handles credit card fees.
  • Digital service taxes (if applicable) and currency conversion costs will be withheld from your payouts.

App Reviews

Before an app can be listed for sale, it must go through a review process to ensure it complies with the CIQ developer license agreement. If you set a price for an app that was previously approved in the app store, it will be temporarily removed for re-evaluation. Users will need to purchase the app again after approval.

For developers switching to the CIQ monetization system from a different system (like external PayPal payments), Garmin offers promotion codes to migrate users who have already purchased the app. These codes allow existing users to access the app without additional costs.

Supported Products

When you list an app for sale, it will only be available on certain Garmin devices, includingCIQ Supported Watches
