FENIX 7Today, Garmin had six FCC filings approved for new devices. Among these, two filings stand out as they likely hint at the next generation Fenix 8.

Fenix 8 Filings

Two of the recent FCC filings describe devices with GPS, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi capabilities:

  • FCC ID: IPH-04853 | Garmin Model Number: A04853
  • FCC ID: IPH-04854 | Garmin Model Number: A04854

These filings suggest they are new smartwatch models, given the inclusion of key sensors like GPS, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi and the fact that the descriptions align closely with previous FCC filings for Garmin’s confirmed GPS watches. Considering the timing and ongoing evidence of an August or early September launch, these devices are likely linked to the Fenix 8 series.

The sequential model numbers signal that these devices are closely related, likely representing different models or variants within the Fenix 8 series. For example, one of the filings could refer to the OLED screen variation, while the other might refer to the models with an MIP screen. Alternatively, they could represent different size variants.

Other FCC Filings

In addition to the speculated Fenix 8 filings, Garmin has had several other FCC filings approved that point to a range of new products:

  • FCC ID: IPH-04371 | Garmin Model Number: GMN-02620 – Aviation equipment likely designed for high-precision tracking or communication
  • FCC ID: IPH-04743 | Garmin Model Number: A04743 – A Bluetooth/Bluetooth LE transceiver, possibly the recently released dezl trucker headset
  • FCC ID: IPH-04856 | Garmin Model Number: A04856 – A multifunction outdoor GPS unit, which also has GPS, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi, but appears to be larger than a watch
  • FCC ID: IPH-B4450 | Garmin Model Number: B04450 – A GPS navigation device with video recording capabilities, likely the recently released dēzl OTR navigator series

AMOLED vs. MIP Displays in Garmin Devices: A Deep Dive
