The release of Garmin’s Quatix, Tactix, and D2 Mach series has traditionally followed closely behind the launch of the Fenix series, usually within a few months. This pattern allows Garmin to introduce the latest innovations from the Fenix line into these specialized models, each tailored to specific user segments.

Anticipated Release of the Next Iterations

Given the historical pattern, it is reasonable to expect the Quatix 8, Tactix 8, and D2 Mach 2 to launch within a similar timeframe following the August 27th release of the Fenix 8. If Garmin follows their typical schedule, we can expect these models to roll out in the next few months and by the end of or early next year.

Adopted Features and Enhancements

Each of these models typically adopts the core features of the latest Fenix model. So, we can expect that most of the sensors and updated UI of the Fenix 8 will be adopted. What will be interesting to see is where Garmin decides to integrate the microphone/speaker and dive features. While the microphone/speaker could make sense across all models, including dive features in the D2 series, which is meant for aviation, might not make sense. The dive features would, however, fit right in with the Quatix series, which is already a marine-focused watch.

While these watches gain most of the latest Fenix features, they also have their own vertical-specific features that make them stand out.

Brief Overview of Each Line

  1. Quatix Series: The Quatix series is designed for mariners. It offers all the features of the Fenix line, plus specialized marine tools like autopilot control, Fusion-Link entertainment system, and compatibility with BlueChart g3 coastal charts.
  2. Tactix Series: Built for tactical operations, the Tactix series includes all Fenix features along with night vision compatibility, stealth mode, and tactical-specific functionalities like Jumpmaster.
  3. D2 Series: The D2 line is tailored for aviators, incorporating Fenix features and adding aviation-specific tools like Direct-to-navigation, airport databases, HSI, and flight logging to assist pilots during all phases of flight.

Garmin is likely to launch these devices in the coming months via a press release.
