After teasing a release on their official X account yesterday, Garmin has just launched the inReach Messenger Plus, their latest satellite communication device. Like prior inReach devices, this device offers two-way text messaging and interactive SOS messaging, which connects to Garmin’s 24/7 emergency response coordination center.
What’s new is that this device can also send voice messages and photos over satellite, providing users with more options to share information in emergency situations when cellular services are not available.
The inReach Messenger Plus has a battery life of up to 600 hours and is available now for $499.99. Satellite subscription plans start at $14.99 per month. Garmin continues to expand its satellite capabilities; Just last month, it announced a partnership with Google to offer emergency services via satellite to all Pixel 9 users for free.
Garmin’s satellite plans and functionality: Essential ($14.99), Standard ($29.99), and Premium ($49.99)
