New images from Keddr revealed more details on the voice features for the upcoming Garmin Fenix 8

Microphone Capabilities

As expected, the Garmin Fenix 8 comes equipped with a built-in microphone, which offers new functionality:

  1. Access Your Phone’s Voice Assistant: The Fenix 8 now has capabilities found in the Venu 3, allowing users to access their device’s smart assistant. This will enable Google Assistant (Google devices) or Siri (Apple devices) directly from your device. Now with voice commands, you can make calls, send messages, get information, and more.
  2. Garmin Voice Command: Beyond controlling your smartphone, the Fenix 8 can also handle various on-watch functions using voice commands. Users can: set timers, start activities, save locations, adjust settings, and more. Given that this is a net new feature across all of Garmin’s watches it will be interesting to see how smoothly it works from day one.

The watch will also have a built-in speaker allowing users to take a call directly from their wrist without pairing headphones. The user can play music through this speaker as well.
