The Forerunner 255 and 955 models are no longer easily accessible on Garmin’s official site. These models no longer appear when filtering the Forerunner line. Their AMOLED screen counterparts, the Forerunner 265 and 965, which are the latest models, remain available.

Previous Models

Despite their removal from the main listings, these models are still for sale on Garmin’s website. They have been categorized under the “previous models” section alongside older models like the 245 and 235.

The Future of Garmin’s Product Lineup

The 265 and 965 lines are very similar to their predecessors but feature AMOLED screens instead of MIP. This move aligns with Garmin’s increasing focus on AMOLED screens. While Garmin is likely to keep MIP screens in some models around for a while, and they have some devoted fans, the options will continue to become more limited. As currently rumored the upcoming default Fenix 8 models will feature an AMOLED screen. This shift represents an evolution in technology that offers more vibrant displays and a modern aesthetic, especially with long(er) battery life now possible.
