Garmin has announced a new partnership with Google, integrating its satellite SOS services with the Pixel 9 series smartphones. This collaboration allows Pixel 9 users to access Garmin’s emergency response services when cellular and Wi-Fi connections are unavailable, offering support through Google’s Satellite SOS feature.

Google SOS

Garmin’s proven emergency response coordination service, known as Garmin Response, will handle SOS activations, connecting users with its global network of emergency responders. With this partnership, Garmin is expanding its well-established satellite services beyond its own devices, now offering support to Android users. The service is free for Pixel users for the first two years.

This move from Google follows the latest trend of offering satellite services to smartphone users. Apple has been offering satellite messaging on its latest iPhones since 2022.  For Garmin, this highlights their commitment to offering reliable satellite-based emergency solutions while opening up new opportunities to expand its service to a broader audience of smartphone users.
